Josh Kroells Named New Vice President of The USA Clay Target League

Eagan, Minnesota – The USA Clay Target League has announced that their Board of Directors has approved longtime Operations Manager Josh Kroells to be the new Vice President for the USA Clay Target League. Kroells has been a part of the organization since 2014.

“Josh has been an important part of the League’s growth and operations for well over a decade.” John Nelson, President of the USA Clay Target League, said. “Josh is an outdoorsman with a deep passion for youth clay target shooting sports, and as Vice President he’ll continue to lead the League’s efforts to grow outdoor clay target shooting sports participation opportunities to schools and athletes across the country.”

Kroells completed his bachelors of Elementary Education at Minnesota State University Mankato in 2005 and taught elementary and secondary students for over a decade. He began his employment with the League in 2014 initially as the Sales and Fundraising Manager for the League.  His latest role as Operations Manager has been to oversee events, high school team recruitment, customer support, and order fulfillment.

Kroells lives in Norwood, Minnesota with his wife and two teenage sons. He also started his local high school clay target team and was the head coach for six years.  He continues to coach for his local trap team and also serves in the school district as a school board member.

With over 55,000 participants in 2025, the League is the most successful clay target shooting sports program in America and the only “100% School-Approved” program in the nation.  Over 2,000 high schools and colleges nationwide will participate in the League’s programs in 2026.

About the USA Clay Target League

The League is the only 100% school-approved clay target shooting sport program in America and the League’s co-ed and adaptive nature are key attractions to schools nationwide. The League is fully Title IX compliant with both male and female athletes competing on the same team. Additionally, it’s an ‘adaptive’ sport, which allows students with physical disabilities to take part.

The League’s priorities are safety, fun, and marksmanship – in that order.

The League is the safest sport in school, with not one reported injury since the inception of the League in 2001. Each athlete must complete firearm safety certification before participation.
